People believe that MPs and the police have the worst ethical standards among people who work in public life, the standards watchdog has found.
The Committee for Standards in Public Life held workshops with over 100
members of the public last summer to test attitudes towards ethical
standards.
Based on people's first hand accounts, the committee found that “some public
office occupations were judged to be inherently more ethical than others,
including fire fighters, the army, teachers and nurses. The ethical
standards of politicians and police gathered the most negative standards.”
