DIVIDED NATION

THE true scale of Muslim immigration into Britain is revealed in new census figures.

The Office for National Statistics says the number of neighbourhoods which have a majority of Muslim residents has nearly doubled over the past decade.

There are now 38 wards in England and Wales where Muslim residents make up more than 50% – up from 20 wards on 2001.

In the past seven years the number of Muslims in the UK has risen by 37% to 2.6million.

And there are five wards where more than 75% of residents are Muslim, three of them in the North West. The ward with the highest proportion is Bastwell in Blackburn, Lancs, at 85%.
