Turkey refuses to extradite Osama bin Laden's son-in-law to the US

Turkey will not extradite Osama bin Laden's son-in-law Suleyman M. to the United States, Turkish media report. He was detained in Ankara after crossing the border on a fake passport.

The US planned to interrogate Suleyman M. about his alleged connection with bin Laden's al Qaida terrorist organization. However, the Turkish authorities intend to extradite him to Iran, in accordance with Turkish legislation.

Suleyman M. was detained as a result of a joint operation by Turkey's National Intelligence Organization and the US CIA, Turkish media report. According to their information, he entered Turkey on a fake Saudi Arabian passport. The US notified Turkey of his whereabouts and Suleyman M. was arrested in a hotel in the Cankaya district of Ankara.
