Balaz jailed for role in ferocious attack on Great Horton victim

A man has been jailed for 16 years for joining his uncle in a ferocious gang attack on a retired roofer whose catastrophic injuries led to him losing his legs.

Bare-chested Ladislav Balaz charged at Keith Alder, 66, who ran for his life but was caught and savagely beaten and kicked at his own front door.

Police believe Balaz, a Slovakian, was planning to flee the country to escape justice.

In April last year, his uncle Bartolomej Makula was jailed for 15 years after pleading guilty to causing Mr Alder grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of a baseball bat.
