Consultation for Islamic centre was 'appropriate' - despite only two businesses being informed


COUNCIL chiefs have said consultation for an Islamic community centre for 400 families was 'appropriate' - despite only two businesses being notified of plans.

The Observer revealed proposals to convert Bridge House at 1a Stoke Road, Slough, into a community centre for the use of around 400 Muslim Sri Lankan families were set to be given the go ahead.

However surrounding businesses were outraged by the lack of consultation and have since submitted objections to the plans - which are still to be passed.

A council spokeswoman said: "In accordance with the statutory requirement we have consulted the properties directly abutting the application site.
