Three family members convicted of attacking a close female relative
they believed was possessed by a demon will be sentenced today.
The men were found guilty last month of assaulting Asma Hussain. The
court heard they beat her with a stick and poured water on her for
almost eight hours.
Her husband Ahmed Hussain, 60, from Poplar, son Mohammed Kayes
Hussain, 28, of Wapping, and son-in-law Muhammed Aziz, 21, of Bethnal
Green, will be sentenced at Snaresbrook Crown Court in London.
Police described the assault as "a violent attack on a defenceless
woman" and appealed for information to trace an imam seen at Asma
Hussain's home reading from the Koran and sprinkling holy water on her.
