French embassy in Libya attacked

The French embassy in Libya was hit by a suspected car bomb today. According to an embassy official in Tripoli, two guards are injured.

The official told Reuters, “there was an attack on the embassy. We think it was a booby trapped car. There was a lot of damage and there are two guards wounded.” One of the guards is slightly injured, while the other is suffering by more serious injuries. The blast occurred at 7 am local time, in the Gargaresh area. According to Euronews, the embassy building has suffered significant damage. Part of the Embassy complex’s outer wall was partly destroyed after the car bombs explosions. Moreover, several cars close to the embassy have also been destroyed whilst windows shuttered in surroundings buildings. According to Libya TV, the French embassy has become unusable.
