Images released of two men wanted for city centre robbery

CCTV images of the men wanted by police

These are the men suspected of robbing a gambler of hundreds of pounds he had just won at a Birmingham betting shop.

The 29-year-old victim picked up the cash from William Hill in the Arcadian Centre.

But, as he walked down Hurst Street, he was approached by two men who searched his pockets and ran off with his winnings.

The robbery, which happened at about 9.30pm on November 4, carried echoes of an attack on Highgate pensioner Bill Hopkins.

The 78-year-old former soldier was robbed and badly beaten last month after leaving Ladbrokes in the Arcadian with money won on the horses.

The suspects in the William Hill case were caught on CCTV.

Sergeant Sinead Sweeney, from Birmingham CID, said: “I’m confident someone will be able to identify the pair and I’d ask them to do the right thing and speak to us.”
